Transport Engagement Manager

We are looking for a passionate and innovative Transport Engagement Manager to grow and transform public transport in Taranaki. This position is permanent full time role.

Our main office is based right in the centre of the region, under the Maunga (mountain), in Whakaahurangi (Stratford).

We have 3 beautiful gardens; Pukeiti, Tūpare and Hollard Gardens. Many of our staff work on a daily basis around the region and we are a 35 minute commute from New Plymouth. This region allows you to have all the big city benefits whilst maintaining a rural lifestyle given the relatively quick ability to travel between our towns and the city.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

This role will be responsible for growing and transforming public transport by directly leading and managing responsibilities associated with public transport and co-ordinating transport, planning and advocacy responsibilities.

This role requires a great people leader with significant and proven experience creating a team environment that fosters pride, purpose and productivity. You will be influential and build relationships through credibility and trust. You will be an innovator who can deliver results.  Whilst experience and expertise in public transport services would be useful, it is not essential for this role.


Mōu | About you

Public transport in Taranaki is growing and we need to continue to enhance/grow our services as well as transform to an emissions free environment.  Our transport team is a busy environment and your strong problem-solving capability enables you to identify and forward manage risk to build a cohesive high performing team. You will be focused on bringing strong team leadership, negotiation, contract and project management capability to the role. You will be skilled at creating change focus and leading with enthusiasm, ensuring internal teams and contracted external service providers are operating optimally to deliver on project requirements and ensuring responsive customer engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to really make your mark and deliver dynamic outcomes, while leading a knowledgeable and passionate team. Through continuous improvement of current practices there is the ability to have real impact on outcomes and deliveries.

  • Project management skills and experience
  • Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
