Taranaki Regional Council’s mission is to responsibly and effectively promote the sustainable use, development and protection of Taranaki’s natural and physical resources while representing and advocating Taranaki’s regional interests. Help us to achieve our mission and benefit from these opportunities to begin or enhance your policy career.
The small policy and planning team is responsible for the analysis and review of existing environmental policies, regulations and legislation and developing proposals for new policy initiatives. You will use your knowledge of policy gleaned from your tertiary studies and/or relevant policy experience to provide advice on the Council’s statutory responsibilities and assess and develop resource management policy. An understanding of environmental law or science and the ability to incorporate this knowledge into policy and planning processes would be an advantage.
Successful applicants will demonstrate superior written and oral communication skills, including strong report writing ability, and the analytical ability to interpret scientific information to develop effective and practical policies. You will thrive in an intellectually rigorous and pragmatic team environment and enjoy an exciting mix of policy related projects. We have a strong preference for an experienced policy analyst but exceptional graduates will be considered.
