Technical Officer (Part time - O.5FTE)
The position of Technical Officer is responsible for providing technical assistance to the Council’s Science Services section, with a focus on assisting in the delivery of its State of the Environment and consent compliance monitoring programmes.
The ideal candidate will have an appropriate qualification in a relevant science discipline and previous experience in environmental monitoring. A working knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 and strong report writing skills are desirable. You should be comfortable undertaking physical outdoor work, whatever the weather, and be able to demonstrate strong initiative and problem solving skills, which will be regularly tested in this role. Strong organisational skills, an attention to detail and an ability to work effectively when working autonomously, or as a member of a small team, are a must. A current full driver’s licence is also essential.
This part-time role is 0.5FTE, and ideally you will be able to commit to five full days per fortnight, worked as two regular days one week, followed by three regular days the following week.
This role will offer the successful candidate a great mixture of field and office work and exposure to a wide range of challenging and technically diverse work on which to progress their career.
